Date: Sunday 3/2
Dear Rosie,
Before I tell you about my day I would like to request your pardon, my dearest Diary, for giving you a name without checking first. It's just I thought it'd be so much nicer if it felt like I was talking to a person rather than an object so you needed a name. And as your cover is just the most lovely rose pink with cream roses I thought Rosie would fit you beautifully. It is, I admit, rather obvious but it is a lovely name, so I hope you don't mind too much!
But about my day, I, and my luggage, made it safely to Rosebud. The trip was a delight, Mommy couldn't come with me due to an emergency with the teachers (she is The Lady of The Path of Light Institute after all) so I had to figure it out all on my own but I did it! The Taxi maid was very sweet, helpful, and knows the canals of Aurora's Harbor like the back of her hand, so the trip went smoothly. I have rarely been outside the institute's grounds since I first moved there, certainly never alone, so it was quite the adventure. Once I made it to Rosebud, my aunt greeted me and her servants were kind enough to help me with my luggage.
The room my Aunt gave me is just darling, The large windows give me a fantastic view of both the rose gardens and the ocean. The room itself, while small, is still bigger than my dorm room and has the prettiest lavender and pale-wood furniture I have ever seem. My aunt helped me unpack and told me I was to follow her on Lady's Day (of course), Moondays, and at least two other days, depending on if I was needed, but the other three days I would be allowed to do as I wish unless she tells me otherwise. Well, of course, she's off on Sunday, aside from morning and evening prayers of course, so I will have that day off for sure, and I plan to visit Lady Catherine, whenever she is available. I do not have anything else to do on my off days but I'm sure I can find something. I'll have to ask my aunt if there's a weekly club or something of the sort.
Yours truly,
Beatrice
